Looking for a Perfect Diary
Looking for a Perfect Diary
As New Year comes, I find a need for a diary. I've always loved old-fashion way of life style. It doesn't mean that I am out-dated with technology, I had a Clie once actually, early aged PDA by Sony, a gift by someone back in 2000 (Not much people used PDA back then unlike these days with 'berry series') and I started to adapt myself to it. However, I have to confess that I failed to make a use. It was very handy gadget with nice software, Calendar,To-Do, MP3, even Map, which I have explored but it didn't last long for my interest. For some reason,it was easier for me getting organized with pencil and a note, specially when it came to scheduling. I write or erase. I turn over or turn back to the page I want. Flipping through dog-ear pages, I could find what I wanted to find with no effort. It was fun to see my handwriting which often revealed my thoughts and feelings of days. Most of all, it ENGRAVES my history. It does not disappear unless it gets roasted in my house on fire or stolen by some curious stalker of mine. These are the reasons that I keep coming back to paper and pen.

So I went to shop for a new diary, the PERFECT ONE. It started as a fun experience. I went to one store where whole shelf with thousands of journals, address book, birthday book, etc, and I found myself going through one product to the other comparing their uses. Then I came down to couple features that I would like in my diary.
1. It has to be no-lined blank pages.
2.The quality of paper was very important, it should glide well with both pencil AND pens. I would like a creamy ivory paper instead of bright arctic white.
3.I wanted sophisticated cover which means no nonsense picture or bright color. It shoud not be too hard or too floppy. Leather would be a possibility.
4.Thickness was important. If it looks like fat yellow-page book, I  become overwhelmed by it and stop writing after few pages.
5.The size was important as well. 4 by 5 perfect.
This is a description of my dream diary.

I've been looking for this perfect diary all over the place, Barnes & Nobles, Borders, Cody's book store, Papyrus from my home town to San Francisco.

Unfortunately, not a single one satisfied me.

Looking for Mr.Right
"Just like you would try on many different styles in the fitting room for a perfect jean before paying hundred dollars, you should date many guys as possible and see if he is the right one for you." According to 어떤 아주머니's theory. It seemed to make sense at that time. I doubt it now because I know there is no single jean customized for me unless I tailor it. If the jean is long then we cut the length, if it feels loose in the waist, we have a belt to tighten it. There is no perfect jean fit for me but I can alter it with my resources or wait until my new jean becomes my body shape .

Since I found no perfect diary, I asked myself,"Do I have to look more stores for 'THE ONE'? " More designs and notes I get exposed to, less I will be satisfied with my new diary. I know there is no note accomodates everything that I listed as my perfect diary. Even if there was a single "perfect" one, I would be complaining about its faultlessness.

I have to live with it. I have to learn to get 'fit' with it and be happy about my choice
.
